 Cockroaches are oval, flattened, fast moving insects. They may be brown, reddish, brown, tan or black in color. They have chewing mouthparts, long hairlike, flexible antennas and broad saddle like plate (pronotum) that covers the head. Adults stages have wings. With front pair being thickened and leathery (tegmina) with an inner folded membranous pair. Some species males are winged, and females are wingless, cockroaches go through incomplete metamorphosis with three basic stages in their cycle. Egg nymph and adult. Eggs are laid in bean like capsules called ootheca, which may contain several dozen eggs. Egg’s capsules often dropped around food sources and glued to surfaces and some carry the capsules during development. 

The ANATOMY

 cockroaches are among the oldest group of insects known, with fossils
dating back 200 million years. cockroaches have the ability to adapt to, and survive a wide range of environments, including human dwellings. cockroaches are amnivorous eating almost any animal or vegetable food that they discover through sense of smell. Cockroaches have a high level of resistance to many commonly used insecticide. cockroaches, enter buildings and containers of all kinds. They can be carried into homes in grocery sacks, cardboard boxes, food packages, laundry, and beverage containers. cockroaches enter around loose fitting doors and windows and through utility lines, can travel through sewers. cockroaches prefer warm, dark moist shelter, found in kitchen areas and food handling areas.  

  Nest maybe in lawns, bare ground, under stones or wood, In wood, under houses or in walls of houses. The larger carpenter ants build nest in wood, usually decayed wood, wood decaying from water damage that has dried or just decaying wood. Sugar plant food are preferred by most species. Others prefer fatty or protein rich foods. Ants consume enormous numbers of dead and decaying materials. Ants defend their habitats by stinging and biting. Problems with ants. They forage for food indoors during warmer months. Carpenter ants, chew on wood and can cause structural damage to homes and structures.

The German cockroach they avoid light and nocturnal in habit. About 1/2” in size or smaller this species has the highest reproductive potential females carry their egg capsules as long as month one or two days before hatching the ootheca is dropped anywhere which at first is white then pink to a light brown in day or two, females produce about 4-8 egg capsules
